The Lawyer You Want by Your Side

Ana Sofía Roncel Olbrich

Ana Sofía Roncel Olbrich

It is early morning in Estepona.

The town is still quiet, caught in that gentle transition between dawn and the start of a new day. Whitewashed facades reflect the Mediterranean light, narrow streets reveal hidden corners, and above it all hangs the unique atmosphere that defines Estepona — a blend of Andalusian authenticity and understated elegance.

We meet Ana Sofía Roncel Olbrich at a small café in the heart of the old town.

A place she knows well and genuinely enjoys. Calm, uncomplicated and without pretension.

As the town slowly comes to life around us, one thing becomes immediately clear:
This is not a lawyer who simply processes files and contracts.
This is a legal professional who understands that behind every property transaction lies a decision that reaches far beyond figures, paperwork and signatures.
This is not only about real estate.

This is about life-changing decisions.
And that is precisely why buyers need someone who not only provides legal guidance, but truly understands what is at stake.

“Buying a Property Is Never Just About a Contract”

After only a few minutes of conversation, Ana’s approach becomes evident.
She does not speak in legal jargon.
She speaks about people.
About clients arriving from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries, excited about a new chapter in Spain, while at the same time facing questions, uncertainties and the challenges of navigating an unfamiliar legal system.

“For many of my clients, purchasing a property is an emotional decision,” she explains.
“My job is to turn that emotion into a safe and secure investment.”

It is a simple sentence that says a great deal about the way she works.
For Ana, legal representation does not begin with a contract.
And it certainly does not end with a signature.

Interview

Spain Expat Press:
Ana, what makes the Costa del Sol property market so special at the moment?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
The Costa del Sol is currently experiencing a very unique moment. We are seeing a combination of strong international demand, stable value growth and a lifestyle that many people actively seek today. It is no longer just about holiday homes. People are looking for quality of life, security and long-term opportunities.

Spain Expat Press:
Many buyers probably underestimate the complexity of the process?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
Absolutely. Buying property in Spain is very different from purchasing real estate in Germany or many other countries. The procedures, deadlines and legal requirements are not the same. My goal is to prevent problems before they arise.

Spain Expat Press:
What makes your approach different from that of other lawyers?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
I work internationally, but very personally. I am qualified to practise law in Spain and speak German, Spanish and English. My clients do not need to adapt to me — I adapt to them.

Spain Expat Press:
You have successfully established yourself in what has traditionally been a male-dominated profession. How did you achieve that?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
Through consistency, clarity and a great deal of hard work. Women often bring a combination of empathy and precision, and in this profession that can be a significant advantage.

Spain Expat Press:
Why do you continue supporting clients after the purchase has been completed?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
Because the purchase itself is only the beginning. Afterwards, questions arise regarding taxation, rentals, inheritance planning and many other matters. I see my role as long-term support rather than a one-off service.

Spain Expat Press:
What is your favourite moment in your work?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
The moment at the notary’s office when an idea becomes reality and people finally receive the keys to their home in Spain.

Spain Expat Press:
And your vision for the future?

Ana Sofía Roncel:
To become a trusted point of reference for international clients in Spain — both professionally and personally.
