A devastating fire has claimed the lives of two people and left another critically injured in the popular Mallorcan resort of Magaluf. The blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning in a residential apartment building in the municipality of Calvià, triggering a major emergency response involving firefighters, police officers and medical teams.

According to the latest information released by local authorities, a total of 24 people were affected by the incident. Four individuals required hospital treatment, while eight firefighters received medical attention during the operation.
The fire is believed to have started in a third-floor apartment, although investigators have not yet determined the exact cause. Officers from the Judicial Police have launched an investigation and remain at the scene.
Calvià Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual described the tragedy as a deeply shocking event for the community.
Initial reports suggest that the situation became particularly dangerous when some residents attempted to escape through the smoke-filled stairwell rather than waiting on balconies for rescue crews to reach them.
Firefighters managed to evacuate the entire building and prevent the flames from spreading further. Emergency services remained on site for several hours as they searched the property and assisted residents.
One person remains in critical condition at Son Espases University Hospital in Palma. Several others suffered smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
Local social services have been mobilised to help residents who have been temporarily displaced from their homes.
“We are devastated and deeply saddened by what has happened,” Mayor Amengual told reporters while praising the professionalism and bravery of the emergency services involved in the rescue operation.
The identities of the two victims have not yet been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire, and further updates are expected throughout the day.
