After hours of negotiations, Spain’s Guardia Civil has arrested two men in Elche who had barricaded themselves inside an apartment in the Marina urbanisation. The suspects are accused of brutally beating two German nationals to death and seriously injuring a third. The incident took place on Monday and triggered a dramatic police operation.

Tragic incident following trip from Germany
The three German men had travelled from Germany to inspect a property belonging to a friend, who suspected that the house had been illegally occupied. What was intended as a routine check quickly turned into a nightmare. Upon arrival, they were allegedly confronted by the occupants of the property and subjected to extreme violence.Two of the men died at the scene as a result of their injuries. The third was taken to hospital in a critical condition, suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Suspects surrender after hours-long standoff
Following the attack, the two alleged perpetrators — both Polish nationals — fled into the occupied property, where they barricaded themselves inside. The Guardia Civil immediately sealed off the area and began negotiations aimed at securing their surrender.A Polish interpreter was brought in to facilitate communication.
After several tense hours, the two men surrendered without resistance and were taken into custody.
Investigation continues
The Guardia Civil has launched a full investigation into the motive and exact circumstances of the attack. Initial findings suggest that the incident may be linked to the illegal occupation of the property. However, investigators are also examining whether personal disputes or other motives may have played a role.
