Mango founder Isak Andic: New development in case of fatal fall in Barcelona causes a stir

Investigations into the Isak Andic case: Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of the Mango founder

The death of Mango founder Isak Andic remains one of the most widely discussed topics in Spain – and is now taking a new turn. In the ongoing investigations into the businessman’s fatal fall in the mountains near Barcelona, a previously little-noticed detail has emerged: an earlier fall in an office building in Barcelona, which is said to have occurred around three months before his death.

The new information comes from the defence team of his son, Jonathan Andic, and is now being used as part of the argumentation in the ongoing proceedings.

The fatal fall in Montserrat

Isak Andic, founder of the internationally known fashion chain Mango, died in December 2024 during a hike in the Montserrat mountain range near Barcelona. According to current findings, the businessman fell from a great height into a ravine, dropping approximately 150 to 300 metres.

The incident was initially classified as a tragic accident. However, as the investigation progressed, doubts emerged, leading to the case being reopened and subjected to a more thorough examination.

As part of the investigation, his son Jonathan Andic came under the scrutiny of the authorities. He has been named as a suspect and was questioned extensively at times. However, Jonathan Andic denies all allegations and describes the account of events as a misrepresentation.

New incident said to support health picture

Defence lawyers are now introducing new information into the discussion. According to this, Isak Andic is said to have suffered a fall in an office in Barcelona several months before his death. The defence argues that this incident may have indicated underlying health issues which could potentially have also contributed to the later accident in the mountains.

In addition, further photo and video material is being referenced, which is said to document the businessman’s health condition prior to his death. The defence is using this evidence to argue that the later fall in Montserrat may not have been the result of third-party involvement, but rather due to natural causes or underlying health issues.

Investigations remain complex

Despite this new account, the investigation into Jonathan Andic continues. The authorities are still examining various scenarios, including possible family conflicts within the businessman’s close circle.

The case is being closely followed in Spain, not least due to the economic significance of the Andic family and the Mango company. Indications of tensions within the family and differing accounts of the events have further complicated the case.

Jonathan Andic continues to firmly deny all allegations and describes the suspicions made against him as unfounded.

Mango remains financially stable

While the investigation continues, Mango is seeking to maintain stability. The fashion brand remains one of Europe’s largest retail chains and continues to have a strong international presence.

The company’s management emphasises continuity and business stability, despite the case involving its founder continuing to attract media attention and placing strain on the company’s wider environment.

A case with many unanswered questions

More than a year after Isak Andic’s death, there are still no definitive answers. The new indications of earlier health incidents raise additional questions, but so far do not change the fact that the investigation continues in all directions.

Whether the death of the Mango founder will ultimately be classified as an accident, the result of health issues, or something else remains open at present.

What is certain is that the case has long since evolved from a tragic accident into a complex business crime story that continues to captivate Spain.
