Spain’s reputation as a global gastronomic powerhouse continues to grow — and this time, it is not because of tapas or fine dining.

Hundred Burgers has once again been crowned the best burger restaurant in the world by the international ranking The World’s Best Burgers, marking the third consecutive year the Spanish company has secured the top position.
The achievement is particularly striking in a sector traditionally dominated by American brands and food culture. Yet today, one of the world’s most celebrated burgers comes not from the United States, but from Spain.
The company was founded by Ezequiel Maldjian and Alex González, who originally began travelling through New York City reviewing some of the city’s most famous burger restaurants and sharing their experiences on social media. What started as a personal project eventually evolved into an internationally recognised business focused almost entirely on product quality.
Hundred Burgers was also developed through Lanzadera, the startup accelerator created by Juan Roig, president of Mercadona.
Unlike many fast-growing international chains, the company has deliberately avoided aggressive expansion. Its founders have repeatedly insisted that quality must remain the priority over rapid growth, and the brand has so far resisted large-scale franchising.
Today, Hundred Burgers operates restaurants in Madrid and Valencia, where long queues are now a regular sight, particularly during weekends. Food enthusiasts from across Spain and abroad increasingly travel specifically to try the burgers that many now consider among the best in the world.
