No sooner does the Christmas season come to an end than consumers across Spain turn their attention to the next fixed date in the retail calendar: the January sales. While 5 and 6 January remain firmly associated with the celebrations of the Three Kings, many shoppers are already preparing for the first major discounts of the year.
Since the liberalisation of sales periods in 2012, retailers have been free to set their own discount schedules. Even so, 2026 once again follows a largely uniform, nationwide pattern: online discounts typically begin on 6 January, with brick-and-mortar stores following a day later.
